THERAPEUTICS

There are no bad kids. There are only bad choices.  If your child is oppositional defiant or depressed, your child is likely coping the best way he/she knows how. Professional help is often needed to help with the grief process, so that your child can go forward.  Although the hurt and/or frustration you are experiencing may be diffucult, your child may be deeply hurting, much more than you are aware.

The decision to place your child in a therapeutic milieu is a painful and thought-filled one. Frankly, Linda does not like to place any adolescent in a therapeutic setting.  However, sometimes when outpatient services have proven inadequate and that child's future life literally hangs "on the fence", such an environment is necessary.

You're likely wondering, How can I trust that Linda has my child's best interest in mind? Since the mid-1970's, Linda McMullen has been a Professional Counselor. Moreover, she maintains an active private practice where her dual specialties remain educational placement and out-patient therapy.  She has served 2 terms on the Georgia Mental Health Counselors Association's Board of Directors and 2 terms on the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of North Carolina's Board of Directors. Within those 2 Associations she has provided leadership in several other arenas. Linda has been primary therapist at 2 residential facilities for troubled youth. Several years ago she was honored by the Darlington County Youth Home when it chose her name to title its new residential Counseling Center. Linda's 40-year professional career has been devoted to fostering the well-being of adolescents.  That she truly cares about teenagers is quite apparent!

Linda is ready to assist with an appropriate milieu.  Confidential references are available upon request from both families and facilities.
